32. “Marvel Elements” – The 79th element on the Periodic Table!
From the universe to our hands
Just as much as how girls love to wear jewelleries made out of diamond, and gold, often boys go wondering what is so amazing in this little chemical element, that does not sound as fascinating as the hype leads. However, most of us fail to realise that at this second, a little bit of gold will be at your reach, even if you are not holding on to the raw piece of gold. This precious element could be in your pocket, or right in front of your desk, as there exists small bits of this amazing chemical behind your electronic screens. Well, I am not sure about you guys, but I am surely fascinated by this piece of news, because little did I realise why these electronic gadgets ended up so expensive. Now, I understand the value of these chemical elements… I should think twice before throwing my phone on the bed after a long day next time. Anyways, our chemistry tuition not only focuses on teaching you about the importance of chemistry in daily life, but would also guide you through how to handle your phone carefully, no..just kidding! Our chemistry tutor is trained and experienced to relate to your problems of daily life, and help you get through the bitty gritty details of chemistry, and especially the much-dreaded topic of periodicity. If only no one created the periodic table of elements….
How did gold end up in our computer screens?
Now, to the most anticipated answer to the question of what exactly is the piece of gold doing in our handy smartphones, and behind computer screens. Several billion years after the first stars appeared, an important pair of large stars that are estimated to be 10 times the mass of the sun, formed and started circling each other, creating a binary star system. These stars are said to have played a crucial role in the formation of Earth and other precious resources such as gold within our planet. Gold is soft, highly conductive, and does not corrode, making it most suitable for use in electronics. As of 2018, it has been reported that the electronic industry used nearly 270 tons of gold. This means, our phones make use of the gold to conduct electricity, as well as transmitting data efficiently and accurately. Our chemistry tutor is also capable of transferring such accurate and precise information to our students in the most efficient manner as possible.
The collision of the majestic stars
As the neutron stars continued circling for billions of years, inching closer and closer to each other, the longtime neighbours decided to collide with each other in the end, as they were tired of repeating the same thing, since about 4.6 billion years ago. This crash then sent clouds of neutrons into space, creating a few elements, of which at last element 79; gold was created! The mass of the gold created was 13 times of the Earth, according to a 2018 paper in the Astrophysical Journal. Did it feel like a journey back to billions and trillions of years ago? Our chemistry tutor does this amazing thing very often, to help students visualise amazing things that serve as a feast to our little brains.
